Tenants
on
behalf
of
Gentoo.
This
is
a
service
to
prevent
elderly
and
disabled
people
losing
their
independence.
Access
to
the
service
is
through
referral
only
via
local
Gentoo
housing
offices.

The
Handyperson
service
carries
out
various
handyperson
jobs
including

Changing
light
bulbs
-
Fitting
curtain
rails,
poles
or
wires
-
Changing
door
handles
(like
for
like)

Change
washers
on
leaking
taps
-
Assembling
flat
pack
furniture
-
Affixing
shelving
The
Gardening
service
completes
the
following
tasks:

Grass
Cutting
-
General
tidy
up
-
Removal
of
debris
-
Weeding
of
borders
and
paths
-
Hedge
trimming
-
Clearance
of
leaves
-
Clearance
of
loose
debris
-
Clearance
of
snow
and
ice
-
Laying
down
rock
salt

Tiding
up
of
dead
foliage
The
Decorating
service
completes
the
following
tasks:
We
have
also
formed
a
partnership
with
the
Tyne
&
Wear
Fire
Brigade
to
offer
Home
Fire
Risk
Assessments
free
of
charge
to
vulnerable
people
living
within
identified
risk
areas.
The
fire
department
carry
out
the
assessments
free
of
charge
to
identify
potential
dangers
within
the
home.
Another
initiative
we
are
involved
with
is
fitting
low
energy
light
bulbs
working
alongside
the
Healthy
Communities
Collaborative.
